Catch Her if You Can: Unmasking Attorney X’s Trail of Abuse

Another Example of Tails of Courage's Kennels
Note: The victim and their family’s names have been censored to protect their identity. We may elect to refer to other parties involved with pseudo-names.
As more information becomes available to us about our client’s case and everyone involved, we are starting to understand that the abuser is the type to portray themselves like an “American hero” in public while also secretly exploiting society’s most vulnerable behind closed doors.
In this post, we’re giving you a glimpse into the backstory of the person responsible for this tragedy, Attorney X. We will be exploring how she was able to use the system for personal gain—all while under the guise of of being a responsible professional.
Spoiler alert: This attorney’s abuse looks like strategically seeking out positions of power with the sole incentive of bending the law in her favor.
Early Education & Career
After graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, Attorney X served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves. Before going on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from Pace University School of Law, she worked as a paralegal for the Admiralty and Maritime Law Firm of Hill, Betts, and Nash at One Word Trade Center, NYC.
From Paralegal to 9/11 Hero
As a 9/11 survivor, Attorney X started getting media coverage by talking about her experience surviving the tragic day. Interviews describe her as a “calm, strong leader” who detailed the horrific experience of making her way down from the 52nd-floor law office.
During one of her interviews, she expressed her dream of starting an animal shelter to train orphaned dogs into emotional support animals for veterans.
Animal Welfare Leadership
Once she passed the bar exam, she started working at her mother’s immigration law firm while shifting her focus toward animal shelters to fulfill a life-long passion for dog rescue.
Inspired by a therapeutic support cat that helped her manage her post-traumatic stress disorder following the 9/11 events, Attorney X went on to start a charitable organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters in 2009.
By 2014, the organization opened their second Danbury location, where they sheltered rescue pups until they could be matched with a loving home.
In 2016, Attorney X even advocated for HB 5344, an Act Concerning Support for Animals that are Neglected or Treated Cruelly. The official letter introduced her as an advocate for animal justice.

But wait a second—this person sounds like a real-life American hero!
While it may seem that way, the truth has a funny way of floating to the surface eventually.
A Decade of Doggy Disappointments
Attorney Abuse in Action
In her letter of support for HB5344, Attorney X didn’t just pledge her support—she proposed appointing herself to Connecticut’s judicial committee for cases of animal abuse.
Yet only two years later, it became clear that her motive for joining the judicial committee was to prevent potential lawsuits against her.
And there were many.
2018: Shut Down for Squalor
In 2018, one of the organization’s shelters was taken to court for leaving animals in unacceptably foul conditions. The non-profit faced two charges of animal cruelty and practicing veterinary medicine without a license.
Reports cited animals living in unsanitary conditions, including cages that were too small and lacked proper access to water. Investigators also found a burst pipe and an untreated rat infestation.
Reviewing the overwhelming evidence of neglect, the government eventually shut down the shelter. To clarify, this is the same person who wrote the letter to the CT courts telling them to crack down on animal abuse.
But Attorney X wasn’t about to give up that easily.
Dog Lover: Take Two
Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Attorney X commenced her plans to move the organization to another nearby town. According to her organization, the move was intended to obtain a “larger kennel that it could not find in Danbury.”
Eventually, this shelter also got shut down for its deplorable conditions. Less than a year after reopening in Wolcott, the organization was once again under investigation after several adopted puppies were found to have serious health issues. The investigation was launched when a puppy from the shelter died just hours after being brought home by a family.
Around the same time, the Danbury location’s former employees started speaking out, claiming that they were told to lie to officials about the conditions inside the shelters.

According to NBC Connecticut's article, reports from 2013-2017 cited various animal care violations, including:
“Having one kennel worker with 60 dogs”
“Inadequate conditions for puppies”
“Thirsty and crying animals, some in cages too small for them.”
“Outside runs with several piles of feces and…snow inside.”
“Two puppies in need of medical care.”

Finally, the organization was forced to give up its animal importation license in the summer of 2019, and Attorney X’s animal “advocacy” stint came to a halt.

Finding New Avenues of Attorney Abuse
With a fresh record of animal abuse under her belt, Attorney X had to find new ways to express her benevolent heart.
So, conservatorship it was.
She discovered that being a conservator was an incredibly lucrative opportunity for exploiting the vulnerable while painting herself as a patron saint. It was also another way for her to leverage her power in the judicial system to perpetuate the abuse she claims she is fighting against.
Our client’s heartbreaking story begins not long after Attorney X started her career as a conservator. Attorney X has caused widespread harm in our community and it's time we shine a special SILVER SPOTLIGHT on her.
